great for reflux babes

5out of 5

Pros: Easy to clean, Easy to Construct

Best Uses: Preemies, Infants, Newborn

Describe Yourself: Parent of Two or More Children

My newest son has a very bad case of reflux. Out of all of my children, (who had reflux) this one has it the worst. In the craddle, he would often cough and start to choke on his spit up. A friend lent us her Rock and Play Sleeper and it helped a ton! It put him on an incline with out sticking him in the bouncy seat or swing.

I love that it rocks. That feature is perfect in the middle of the night after feedings when he isn't quite asleep. I can rock him with one hand on the rocker and the rest of me comfortably in bed. ;)

I recently moved my son back into his craddle, in order to give the product back to my friend who lent it to us. He went from sleeping in 5 hr stretches, to only sleeping in 1.5 hr stretches. I couldn't figure out why, until another person suggested I try this product (she didn't know we already had it). I had a "doh" moment and realized that his sleeping had gone down hill since I moved him back into his craddle. I put him back into the sleep and play rocker last night and he slept for a 5 hr stretch!

I also like that the cover comes off and is washable! With a baby who spits up all.of.the.time. this is perfect!

Ideas

Any ideas to entertain a 2 month old baby, who hates his car seat, on a 12 hour car ride to Florida?

I ordered this, but I am doubting it will keep him occupied (read: not screaming) for very long. We pushed the two bucket seats in the middle of our van together so that I can sit right next to him if I need to. I'm anticipating needing to almost the entire trip.

So, anything that worked for you? Besides ear plugs?

patience

How do you have patience on 3 hours of sleep?

I'm not sure why people expect me to NOT be on the verge of tears when things get wild. I mean, even if I didn't have the crazy hormones surging through my body, I'd still be delirious from a lack of sleep.

yeah. the only patience I am having these days is God given. I just hope he gives me more today.

I have mommy brain

I have mommy brain. I forget appointments. I read the calendar wrong. I forget things like coupons when I go to the grocery store. I forget to brush my kids teeth occasionally (gross!)

I have mommy brain!

But, I'm glad that my mommy brained self, was in enough of a right mind to write down the day and time of I's appointment in my calendar. I'm glad that I thought enough to check that said calendar last night before I went to bed.

I have mommy brain!

I's appointment isn't today. Its tomorrow! Sheesh!

2 month check list

here's my list for Isaac's Dr. on Monday when we go for his two month check.

*Baby I still has his mystery rash. He now has two big patches on the back of his neck.

*I don't know if I told you all, but he has been having a constant diaper rash. It goes away for a day, then comes back the next (really, really bad!) then takes several days of prescription ointments to go away again.

*His stool has been green for almost a month now.

*Last night, I noticed that his stool started to look semi-mucusy (is that a word?). It definitely isn't normal.

*Yesterday I slipped, and had some milk. Isaac spit up all afternoon and into the night. When he woke up after his 2:30 am feeding, he grunted until E and I got up at 5:30. I just want to talk with the Dr. about this. I'm not changing my diet to include milk if she says there is no correlation.

*The last question I have is sort of a silly one in comparison to the rest. Baby I's eyes are so much darker than my other two kiddos at this age. I'm wondering if they tend to stay dark in other kids.

name that rash

So, A had a bit of eczema. Still does, actually. But, when it flares up, we use Eucerin cream, and things calm down.

So, when baby I seemed to develop a case of eczema, I pulled out the cream and lathered him up. And lathered him up the next day. And the next. And the next. But, its still there. The worst part is under his chin and around his mouth. So, now I'm starting to wonder if it even *is* eczema at all.

What do you think?

This patch is on his side.

Today, it went from bad to worse. Under his chin seems to be hurting him. I went to wipe some spit up off of it, and he cried. :( Luckily, we have his well-baby check up on monday. I'll just add this to my list of things to ask.

Luckily, he still seems in good spirits.

The reason I ask

The reason I asked about back talk is, obviously, because we've been struggling with it here lately. However, it seems that we are doing what most of you are doing- redirecting with appropriate words and time outs. I'm hoping that we get through soon. Very soon!

An Advice post

So, share with me your expertise. What do you do when your child back talks? Does it work?

Do you use soap?
Time outs?
Send her to her room?
Hot sauce?
Spankings?

I'm listening intently to what you have to say.

Proud momma!

Its amazing how proud you can feel as a mother. Even when what your child does is developmentally appropriate. They don't even have to be "above average" or "ahead".

Baby I rolled over twice today. I felt so proud that I called up my husband and shouted at him "Isaac just rolled over!" Then I proceeded to describe to him, step by step, what Isaac was doing as he rolled over again.

I know, I know. I should be a little less dramatic. I mean, I've seen two other babies roll over before. This is old hat. Except its still JUST as exciting as when I watched my first baby do it almost 5 years ago.

But, I do promise to refrain from posting a video of him rolling over. Well, I'll try not to. :)

weight loss woes

I did pretty well with I's pregnancy in terms of weight gain. It made it really nice when most of the weight fell off those first few weeks. The last few weeks, however, I've been stuck at 6lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight.

So, this past week I started keeping track of everything I ate. In fact, I was semi-limiting myself. (not full scale into my weight watchers points yet, but I was definitely scaling back.)

So, how much weight did I lose?

nothing.

nada.

zero.

zilch.

Want to know the worst part? When I was eating whatever I wanted, I didn't gain any either. Maybe I should just stick to that plan!
